SPRA Corporate Members, Rosti UK Ltd, Engel UK Ltd and Summit Systems Ltd pick up Industry Awards

For the third year running, SPRA Corporate Member, Rosti UK Ltd, scooped the award for Best Energy or Environmental Initiative at the 2011 Plastics Industry Awards ceremony on 14 October in London, for implementing a raft of green initiatives including installing a 2.2 MW wind turbine which it hopes will generate up to 50 per cent of its total energy requirements by the end of the year. The judges concluded that Rosti UK is going a long way to meeting its demanding environmental targets through its Energy and Awareness Programme, which incorporates ‘green’ training for staff, waste reduction initiatives, a commitment to carbon reduction and waste usage and addressing renewable energy strategies.

One judge commented that Rosti had demonstrated that it had “...gone beyond financially advantageous activities and involved local communities”.

Barry Coughlan, Chief Operating Officer for Rosti Europe and SPRA President said that the award was “ ... a credit to all the hard work put in by all Rosti UK employees”.

Also at the 2011 PIA event another SPRA Corporate Member, Engel UK Ltd won an award, with Ambic Equipment, for Supply Partnership: Machinery for a mould shop overhaul which resulted in average operating efficiency rising from 60 % to 86%.

Summit Systems Ltd, the newest SPRA Corporate Member, has gained recognition as Ancillary Supplier of the year for 2011 from readers of European Plastics Product Manufacturer Magazine.
