Rosti UK bring STEM to Hareleeshill primary school
As part of Rosti UK’s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) the Larkhall based company has regularly supported the local schools and community with various projects. In February 2011 three delegates (Kenny McIntosh, Chris Clark & Charlene McGillivray) from Rosti visited Hareleeshill Primary School to deliver a STEM associated presentation to the P7’s.
The presentation was based on the recent RW Thomson Lecture organised by the SPRA and was a condensed version for the P7’s. The presentation looked at some famous Scottish inventors, an outline of what plastics are and what they come from, an outline of engineering and innovation within Rosti and a description of injection moulding, with an animated video (supplied by Engel).
The day ended with a short quiz based on items from the presentation, which all the pupils answered very well.
The pupils have now been tasked to design a poster in groups of two to show why Rosti should recycle. The pupils who design the winning poster will be presented with an iPod shuffle each when the class visits the Rosti plant for lunch and a factory tour in May.
