Plans to Enlarge the Production of Car Tyres at Michelin’s Dundee Plant
The Dundee plant of tyre manufacturer, Michelin, received encouraging news in February 2011, with the announcement of plans to install state-of-the-art machinery to manufacture the latest generation of environmentally-friendly car tyres, thereby safeguarding the current 750 jobs and creating 140 more. The plant produces around 7 million tyres each year.
In 2006 Michelin installed two wind turbines at their plant in Dundee, with a combined capacity of 44 MW, which contribute around 30% of the electrical power in the plant and also supplies electricity to homes in the surrounding area.
