Schools Project: Rolls Royce

Hasan Jamal, Renfrew High School, explaining his project

At a 'Celebration Event' in the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, Renfrew High School pupil, Hasan Jamal shared, with students, teachers, supervisors and guests, the results of his six week science project carried out at Rolls Royce (Inchinnan) under the supervision of SPRA Council Member, Andrew Russell.

Hasan's project was to document the standardisation of the Leco RHEN602 Hydrogen Analyser, which had been recently purchased in order to comply with the global testing standard ASTM E1447. Professor Lesley Yellowlees MBE, recent Head of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh, presented the students with their certificates of achievement under the Nuffield Bursary Scheme for Schools and Colleges.

Hasan received a Highly Commended award in the National Science and Engineering Competition and was presented with a certificate, a medal and £125 at The Big Bang Fair held in London in March 2011.
