SPRA wins the Local Society of the Year Award
At a dinner in the impressive surroundings of 1 Carlton House Terrace, the London headquarters of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, the IOM3 President, Barry Lye, presented SPRA President, Fergus Hardie, with a cup and a cheque for £1000 in recognition of the SPRA being selected as Local Society of the Year, in the 'smaller society' category. SPRA edged out a number of other local societies throughout the UK because of an increase in membership, higher numbers attending SPRA technical meetings, several education initiatives and good communication with members through the Newsletter and website. Colin Hindle, SPRA Education Secretary and IOM3 Regional Councillor for Scotland, was also present at the dinner.
