Cogent Sector Skills Council appoints a new Director of Skills for Scotland
Cogent Sector Skills Council, the body responsible for developing skills in the polymer sector, has appointed Paul Coffey as Skills Director (Scotland). In addition to the polymers sector, Paul is also looking after chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petroleum, oil & gas and nuclear sectors in Scotland.
Paul is an electrical engineer by training but has also had experience as a production manager in industry and a lecturer in an FE college before moving to the Scottish Qualifications Authority on the accreditation side. In 2005 Paul became Scottish and Northern Ireland Manager for Proskills, the Sector Skills Council responsible for a number of process industries, including wood, paper, glass, ceramics, printing and coatings. Latterly he has been solely concerned with Northern Ireland but now he has returned to Scotland to a similar role with Cogent, taking over from Barry Neilson.
