Plastech Group Ltd, Glenrothes, Reorganises into Three Divisions, Packaging, Mouldings and Healthcare
Plastech Group Ltd, a long standing SPRA Corporate Member, has had a plastics manufacturing presence in Glenrothes for almost 40 years, through its predecessors, Intercobra and Polydex. Recently Plastech Group has reorganised into three business units, Packaging, Mouldings and Healthcare.
Plastech Packaging, with a history of producing packaging for the luxury market, has expanded, with the acquisition of Alplast in 2007, to become a leading resource for the design and manufacture of transparent visual packaging solutions for the retail and promotional markets.Plastech Packaging has a number of extrusion lines, for the production of tubing, and a range of finishing processes, including printing, ultrasonic welding, guillotining and die cutting. The Division also has Class 7 clean room facilities and a design studio and has a long experience of processing cellulose acetate and cellulose propionate as well as PVC, PETG, polypropylene and other packaging materials.
Plastech Mouldings has capitalised on its worldwide reputation, built up from Polydex days, for thermoset and thermoplastic covers for the electrolytic capacitor market but they also produce mouldings for the technical, packaging and medical markets.Plastech Mouldings has a range of injection moulding machines (30 - 150 tonne), for both thermosets and thermoplastics and equipped with robotics for insert loading. They also have printing and hot foiling processes as well as clean room facilities. The Division offers other expertise for customers, including product design, tool design and rapid prototyping. Plastech Healthcare, the newest of the divisions, is building on the 25 years' experience of medical products and medical packaging in the Group. Plastech was one of the first companies to provide a solution for safe disposal of hypodermic needles in hospitals and other areas of harm reduction. They now market a range of products contributing to harm reduction in medical facitilies and for personal use.
All three Divisions operate to Quality Management Systems certified to BS EN ISO 9001:2008
Plastech Group launched its new website (www.plastechgroup.com) at the end of 2009 and Plastech Managing Director, Tom Stirling said "The new web site now reflects the strategic changes and focus within the business into three separate and quite diverse business units."
